It turns out that the prospect of a hung parliament isn’t enough to turn Brits on.

Apparently we were all too busy voting and being glued to our TV screens on election day, and didn’t leave enough time for ourselves.

Figures from Pornhub reveal that on election day, traffic was down in the UK by as much as 14% compared to a normal Thursday.

However, there was one particular search term that saw a huge rise in interest.

Porn star Teresa May was suddenly a lot more popular than usual – and we can’t imagine why.

Searches for Teresa May (the porn star, not the prime minister who has an extra ‘H’ in her name) rose by 128% on election day, and then 235% the day after.

Figures from the whole of the UK show traffic was up 10% throughout the afternoon as Brits enjoyed some post-vote play time.

But when the staggering – and ultimately correct – exit poll came in at 10pm, people slammed their laptops shut and started paying attention for a few hours.

We appeared to lose interest at about 2am as Pornhub’s traffic shot up again, presumably as a lot more people were awake in the early hours than normal.

The porn site also released figures for England, Scotland and Northern Ireland individually – with the demise of the SNP really turning Scots off, as Pornhub activity north of the border was well down on usual over the course of the night.
